Michael McAlexander

Mike joined the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office in 1984 as the Superior Court Section Chief. In 1986, Mike was promoted to the position of Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney. In 1989 Mike was appointed Director of Public Safety for the City of Fort Wayne, by Mayor Paul Helmke. In that position he oversaw the Fort Wayne Police Department, Fort Wayne Fire Department, Communications, and Animal Control. He was also a member of Fort Wayne’s Board of Works and appointed to the Board of the Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, where he served for over 10 years.
Mike returned to the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office in 1992 in a part-time capacity, in the Child Support Division. He later became the Chief Counsel of the Civil Division of the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office in 1997 and led the Child Support Division and Juvenile Section until he was appointed Chief Deputy in 2002. During his time in the Prosecutor’s Office, he has handled nearly every type of case imaginable and has tried cases in front of juries on cases ranging from traffic infractions to murder charges.
Mike is a Vietnam war veteran who served in the United States Navy as a Vietnamese linguist. He has been active in various community organizations and with his church, Trinity Episcopal. He is married and the father of two adult children and the grandfather to two little ones.
